PTCL to launch pre-paid phone card in Feb

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has planned to launch pre-paid phone card facility for its subscribers from February 2000.

"Pre-Paid phone cards facility will be made available for PTCL customers by February 2000," said a PTCL spokesman here Sunday.

Talking to APP he said, the cards will be having the denomination of Rs 250 to Rs 10,000 inclusive of Rs 500, Rs 1,000, Rs 1,250, Rs 1,500, Rs 2,000, Rs 2,500, Rs 3,000 and Rs 5,000.

About the usage and benefits from the new scheme to PTCL subscribers, the spokesman said, they will be able to control their monthly expenditure on account of telephone bills.

The cards could be put in the existing telephone sets helping not only the domestic subscribers but also the commercial users to avail the limit of the card according to its denomination within the specific time.

These cards will be available to the customers without additional charges from all the authorised spots to be appointed by the PTCL.

About the incentives on the heavy denomination cards, he said, PTCL has also been planning to offer incentives to the users of the pre-paid cards. The details would be issued as soon as these were finalised by the PTCL, the spokesman added.

Regarding the call charges through the new card system, he said, the subscribers will be charged as per the existing rates already mentioned in the valid telephone directory of the PTCL. APP
