Kidwai calls for list of cases pertaining to Food dept

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Secretary Zubair Kidwai has called for the list of cases pertaining to Food Department and pending with the Anti-Corruption Establishment.

Presiding over a meeting held to review the progress made on reports of monitoring committee pertaining to the various administrative departments. Kidwai constituted a committee comprising Senior member, Board of Revenue, Secretaries of Food and Labour departments for review of such cases.

Kidwai informed the meeting that procurement of wheat in Sindh will start from March 15, 2000. He said security at wheat godowns is being tightened.

He took notice of non-supply of wheat to Thar area even after the target time. He asked the Food Secretary to take necessary action against officials responsible for this lapse.

The meeting decided to streamline the system for availability of number plates and tax bills.

Notice was also taken regarding malpractices in Zakat distribution and he directed that Zakat distribution among deserving people should be made at open kutcheries of SDMs in the presence of army monitoring teams so as ensure transparency.

The meeting also reviewed the performance of Provincial Auqaf Department regarding mosques/shrines under the department. APP
