30 metro buses on Saddar-Sohrab Goth route soon

KARACHI: Sindh Transport Department will ply 30 new Metro buses from Saddar to Sohrab Goth under the supervision of Karachi Public Transport Society (KPTS) by February 10 next.

This was stated by Sindh Labour and Transport Secretary while talking to people here on Friday.

The bus service from Saddar to Sohrab Goth is being provided by a private company, from 6.30 a.m. till 10.30 p.m. It will run during peak hours after every 5 minutes. Minimum fare of 29 seats non-air-conditioned bus would be Rs 5 per passenger and maximum Rs 12.

This would be the second phase of 142 buses planned to ply on different routes of the city. In the first phase 12 buses were started from Quaidabad to Port Qasim Authority recently.

The Transport Secretary said that Sindh Government under the directive of Sindh Governor Air Marshal M. Azim Daudpota (Retd) wants to solve problem of traffic congestion and provide better facilities of travelling to the commuters in Karachi.

He said so far KPTS is strictly adhering to traffic rules and ensuring seat to seat facilities in buses on various routes of Karachi. Its monitoring team inspects and checks services and imposes fine on those violating the rules, he added. APP
