Christian League backs oath under PCO

LAHORE: President Pakistan National Christian League (PNCL) and moderator Bishop of Lahore Church Council, James Subbay Khan has supported the fresh oath of judges of the superior courts under the Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO).

"It was the need of the hour", Subbay said in a statement here on Thursday.

Appreciating Chief Executive Gen Pervez Musharraf's efforts to make Pakistan stronger in the political and economic fields, he said that the deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his coterie had sown the seeds of deterioration in the politico-economic milieu of the country.

"Nawaz Sharif and his supporters tried to create constitutional unrest in the country by filing writ petitions", he said.

He said that the western countries especially the European Union should not interfere in the internal affairs of Pakistan on the pretext of so-called democracy.

He said that all corrupt politicians should be debarred from politics in the larger interest of the nation. APP
