Accountability
will go on,
says CE
TAKHT BHAI (MARDAN): Chief Executive General Pervez Musharraf on Thursday reiterated his government's commitment to carry out across the board accountability and assured that there would be no let up in the anti-corruption drive.
Talking to a group of elders of Siri Behlol village in Takht Bhai, he said the process of accountability would continue till its completion to purge the society of corrupt elements.
"If someone thinks and gives the impression that nothing is being done on the part of the government about accountability, it is totally wrong."
He drew the attention of the people towards the legal aspects of the process and said, "we are gathering evidence about the irregularities committed by elements involved so as to produce them in the court of law".
He said the accountability drive seems to be slow because it takes time to gather evidence of corruption involving millions of rupees.
He said it was not an easy job to collect evidence against corrupt people. However, he pledged that the government would not spare corrupt people.
He said most of the corruption was carried out by elite and wealthy people.
He made these remarks when one of the villagers appealed to the Chief Executive to continue with accountability campaign against the corrupt people.
The villagers expressed confidence over the performance of the government.
He said the desilting campaign was being carried out with the full cooperation of local people and army personnel.
The people in one voice told the CE that they were quite happy with the progress and extended their fullest support for its completion. They praised the spirit of the Jawans of the Pak Army and said, "the army personnel are our brothers,".
General Musharraf told the people that the same spirit is found everywhere in the country and assured that if this zeal continued, there was no reason that the nation would emerge successful in every field.ÑAPP
