Kidwai orders check on prices

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Secretary Muhammad Zubair Kidwai on Thursday directed all the divisional commissioners to constitute special squads to check the prices of essential commodities.

In his directive to the commissioners, the CS said the committees be headed by the sub-divisional magistrates and their work would be in addition to the routine, activities of the price checking officials of the concerned departments and area magistrates.

Kidwai said the directive was being issued in view of increasing public complaints regarding price hike, adulteration in edibles.

He has also directed all the deputy commissioners to pay special attention towards hoarding, adulteration, defective measuring and weighing instruments and other related inconveniences to the general public.

Kidwai asked the commissioners and the deputy commissioners to submit fortnightly reports on compliance of the directive.
