Hike in flour prices denied

KARACHI: An official statement issued here on Wednesday denied newspaper reports about the price hike of flour or wheat crisis anywhere in Sindh.

It said that a general impression was being created through various news items in a section of the press that there was price hike of flour as well as an artificial shortage of flour/wheat in Sindh.

"The news items are not based on facts," the statement said adding that it was, therefore, clarified that the department was supplying allocated quota of wheat regularly to the flour mills/chakkies all over Sindh as per policy.

Moreover, 1,648,180 wheat bags are available with the Sindh Food Department as on January 24. As such there is no question of wheat crisis or price hike of flour/wheat anywhere in Sindh.ÑAPP
