more onion from Balochistan

QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Amirul Mulk Mengal has said that the federal government has promised to provide funds for purchase of remaining stock of onion in Balochistan.

Talking to a delegation of farmers action committee that called on him here on Wednesday, he said he was in continuous contact with the federal government on the issue of onion and it was due to his personal efforts that Pasco purchased onion from Balochistan.

He said, in addition to the funds to be provided by the federal government, provincial government would also allocate reasonable amount for the purpose.

He said a monitoring team comprising representatives of farmers and monitoring team and concerned commissioners was being set up which would take proper steps in this regard.

The governor said the government was also alive to other problems of the farmers and would take actions for their solutions.

The leader of delegation Taj Mohammad Agha, informed the governor that though Pasco had lifted some of the onion, yet 30,000 tonnes were still lying under open sky and if they were not disposed of in time, the entire stock would go rotten.ÑAPP
