Earthquake jolts Tibet

BEIJING: An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale jolted a sparsely-populated area of southern Tibet early on Wednesday, the official Chinese news agency Xinhua reported.

The agency said there had been no immediate reports of casualties or damage because of poor communication links with the area.

The epicenter of the quake was located at 27.8 degrees north latitude and 92.5 degrees east longitude, the China Seismological Bureau said.-AFP
