Call for easy availability of public health material

KARACHI: Provincal Health Minister, Dr. S. M. Rab has underscored need for easy availability of public health material, helping masses to prevent many of the rampant ailments.

Addressing the launching ceremony of a booklet "vitamin A aur Aap ki Sehat" here on Wednesday the minister referring to surge in different diseases said most of these could be avoided, and even contained through a little caution and cost effective measures.

The goal to attain sound mental and physical health of the public could be gained through adequate provision for basic civic facilities as potable water and clean environment, he said adding that public accessibility to basic information regarding hygiene and physiology could also contribute bringing down mortality and morbidity rates.

Appreciating Unicef and Hope for taking the initiative and helping Dr. Mobina Agboatwala along with Dr. Nahid Farooqi in getting published the booklet said such publications could largely benefit the community.

Dr. Rab maintained that vitamin A supplementation programme was very crucial in reducing morbidity and mortality in children under five years of age. APP
