CAA to cut down by 30pc ancilliary benefits of top management
KARACHI: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has decided to drastically cut down the ancilliary benefits offered to its top management by at least 30 percent, it was reliably learnt.
According to informed sources the Director General and Deputy Director generals who were getting round-the-world tickets for their entire family every year, will now be getting tickets only for self and wife, every second year, that too for a very restricted sector.
The sources said the CAA is expected to save more than Rs. 2.5 million on this count alone.
Moreover the Club membership offered to them on CAA expenses has been reduced from two to one club, resulting in 50 percent cut in the expenses.
On the other hand the Directors and General Manager will get low fuel economy cars instead of luxury cars. The refrigerators and airconditioners supplied to them on CAA expenses, will not be changed now every three years and CAA expects to save Rs 3 million annually on this count.
They will no more be entitled to unlimited membership fee for one club and get only half of what is being charged by Arabian Sea Club as membership fee. The extra amount will have to be borne by themselves.
Presently about 70 General Managers and 15 Directors are working in CAA. A colossal amount was being spent on their 'upkeep' and 'maintenance'.
According to an observer with this drastic cut in ancilliary benefits of the top management, CAA will no more be considered as a prize posting for the bureaucrats.
Meanwhile, it is learnt the CAA is considering to reduce the number of general managers to a rational level. Informed sources said this will help the organisation to get optimum output from departmental heads. APP
