Seminar on express clearance system today

KARACHI: The Collectorate of Customs (Appraisement) and the Pakistan Revenue Automation Ltd. (PRAL) will hold a seminar on January 27, 2000, in the auditorium of Old Custom House on the Express Clearance System (ECS) being introduced for clearance of imports.

Under ECS, the computer will automatically appraise the bills of entry filed by selected importers immediately upon its finalisation at the Customer Service Centre. The new system will also apply to bills of entry which are filed for items at statutory zero duty as well as those at specific rate of duty.

After completion of bills of entry under this scheme, the clearing agents and importers will take the entry directly to cash section for payment of Customs duty and taxes.

All clearing agents and importers and members of business community have been invited to attend the seminar.
