18 killed in Gilgit road accident
GILGIT: Eighteen passengers including two children were killed in a road accident while four others sustained serious injuries when a jeep plunged into a ravine along the banks of Indus River on Wednesday morning.
The ill-fated jeep (KH-1849) with 22 passengers on board met the accident while on way to Chilas from Thore Nallah, police said.
The driver lost control of the vehicle because of over-loading and the jeep fell into a ditch near Chulmik Thore. Eighteen passengers died on the spot while four others sustained serious injuries who were rushed to DHQ Hospital, Chilas.
Those killed were identified as Mohammad Nabi (driver) r/o Kohistan district of NWFP, Jal Mohammad Semigal r/o Thore (Chilas), Abdullah r/o Chilas, Jan Mohammad r/o Gikutch, (Chilas) Juma s/o Jehan r/o Thore Nallah, Amir r/o Thore Nallah, Sikander r/o Thore Nallah, Amir r/o Thore, Nallah, Abdullah r/o Thore, Abdul Mutlib r/o Thore, Jan r/o Gakuchi, Master r/o Thore, Alam Nageen r/o Thore, Zooja Marjan r/o Thore and daughter of Abdullah and his grand daughter Mera Jan while one body could not be identified.
The injured included Mursleen s/o Alif Khan, Sabu s/o Syed Mir, Jara s/o Amir, Dadu s/o Darya have been admitted to the hospital.ÑAPP
