Concern voiced
at spread of
malaria, TB
in interior Sindh
RECORDER REPORT
HYDERABAD: Col. A. B. Rang of Army Medical Corps has expressed grave concern over the spread of malaria and Tuberclosis in Interior Sindh and said that no village in Interior Sindh was safe from T.B.
He said the villagers were not at all aware how dangerous and fatal tuberclosis was.
He was briefing newsmen at the annexe of the local Circuit House here.
He said due to the ignorance of the villagers and the indifferent attitude of the concerned authorities, TB was spreading at an alarming pace and added that due to one T B patient, 10 more patients fell prey to this fatal disease every year as it was the most contagious disease.
He said the Army Medical Corps was providing free medical facilities to the villagers and besides establishing permanent camps in Mithi and other areas of Thar, it had also set up camps at Hala, Chaber and Sanghar to provide free medical facilities to the people.
He said 17 mobile medical camps of the Pakistan Army Medical Corps were working in Interior Sindh.
He said the Army Medical Corps was prepared to launch an Anti TB programme in co-operation with the provincial government if a special fund was established for this purpose.
He said during the cyclone, the Army Medical Corps had provided medicla treatment to 50,000 patients and added that medical facilities were also being provided to the civil population in the Combined Military Hospital, Chhor.
