CBR chairman assures FPCCI to review GATT code of valuation

ISLAMABAD: The chairman, Central Board of Revenue (CBR), has promised the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) that the CBR would review data-base to remove irritants in the implementation of GATT code of valuation.

The CBR chairman gave this assurance to a delegation of the FPCCI which met him to discuss this issue.

It was agreed in principal that Customs General Order (CGO) No. 57/99 will also be reviewed by the CBR to bring it in conformity with the GATT rules, says a press statement issued by the Federation on Tuesday.

The FPCCI delegation was led by former president Tariq Sayeed and comprised of former FPCCI president Sheikh Maqbool Ahmed, Convenor of the Committee, and Sh. Shakeel Ahmed, member, FPCCI managing committee. Member Customs Mir Fuad was also present in the meeting.

The FPCCI delegation appreciated the attention given by the CBR Chairman to the problems relating to GATT code of valuation.
