Armed forces

capable to give

befitting response

to India: Tarar

ISLAMABAD: President Rafiq Tarar condemned India's blatant violations of ceasefire line and said that Pakistan Armed Forces are fully capable of giving a befitting response to such acts of aggresssion.

He warned India to desist from committing such adventurism and attacking the innocent people alongside LoC. Such acts, he said are intolerable for the people of Pakistan. He was talking to newsmen here on Tuesday, after inaugurating international seminar on "Biotechnology for Development".

The President said India's cros-border state terrorism the ceasefire line was due to the growing frustration of the Indian army. Such acts, he said were the result of the Indian Government's inability to suppress the indigenous struggle of the Kashmiri People, the Indian Army's mounting casualties in Indian Held Kashmir, the failure of the Indian Government efforts to implicate Pakistan in the recent hijacking of an Indian aircraft.

Tarar said the international community must take notice of the cross-border state terrorism, which is posing a serious threat to peace and stability in the region.

He appreciated the courage of the Pakistani troops who valiantly defended their country and rendered supreme sacrifices.

He noted that the growing movement in occupied Kashmir has frustrated the Indian leadership, and they resorted to putting burden on Pakistan for its failure to provide justice to the people of occupied state.

The state aggression, he said cannot stop the Kashmiris to continue their ingenious struggle for right of self-determination.

To a question regarding CTBT, the President Tarar said the decision to this effect would be taken in accordance with national aspirations.

He referred to the recent statements of the Chief Executive, General Pervez Musharraf, assuring that national interests would not be undermined while taking decision on the issue of CTBT.ÑAPP
