Canadian team visits FPCCI
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: The Canadian businessmen have appreciated the improvement in economic conditions in Pakistan, reflected by the recent boom in the stock market and indicated interest in investing in information technology and other sectors.
A Canadian delegation headed by Andy Merchants, Chairman of Canada-Pakistan Business Council, visited the Federation House here on Tuesday to discuss matters relating to promotion of trade and economic relations between the two countries.
Merchants said that there existed tremendous opportunities for increasing trade between the two countries which needed to be explored. He suggested that Canada could assit Pakistan in the development of information technology parks. It was pointed out that there was lack of business information in Canada about Pakistan which was highlighted by the media as a high risk country.
The delegation felt that after visiting Pakistan this perception had changed and they saw a lot of potential for developing business co-operation in different areas such as information technology, e-commerce, education, CNG kit, etc.
The delegation was welcomed by Amjad Inam, Chairman, Pakistan-Canada Trade and Industry Committee of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
