Drug inspectors asked not to harass dispensers

MULTAN: Secretary Punjab Medical Faculty (PMF) has asked the drug inspectors not to harass the qualified dispensers who had established their clinics in rural or urban areas to provide first-aid to the patients because they cannot be treated as "Quacks".
In his letter No. 7431/PMF the secretary said that qualified dispensers can do medical practice under private practitioners law.
Sheikh Mohammad Sharif, Secretary General of All Pakistan Dispensers Association said here on Sunday that Lahore High Court, Multan Bench, had also granted permissin to qualified dispensers to do private practice for providing first aid to the patients.
He said that dispensers played a vital role in saving the lives of patient by providing them first aid.
He said that more than 22,000 dispensers help in stopping the bleeding in cases of any mishap, and making the patients able to reach to the hospital but drug inspectors and health authorities, under the pressure of MBBS doctors were harassing them and a number of clinic have so far been sealed by them besides sending their cases to drug court by declaring them "quacks".
