More factories needed to produce DAP

LAHORE: Federal Secretary for Agriculture, Food and Live Stock Dr. Zafar Altaf said that the current indigenous production of DAP fertilizers was not sufficient to meet the total requirement of the country.

Answering newsmen's question here at a local hotel on Sunday, he said that presently, FFC Jordan Fertilizer was also producing 350,000 tones of DAP but the country still needed more production. "We need two-three more factories to undertake this job to achieve self-sufficiency in production of DAP fertilizers," he said.

To a question, he said that sowing of sun flower crop had started in the country from January 01, 2000, adding this time 5 lakh acres of land would be brought under the cultivation of the crop.

To another question he said that the situation of wheat crop in the country was satisfactory and there was no need to worry about it.
