10 kg heroin seized: two Afghans held
RECORDER REPORT
HYDERABAD: Officials of Directorate of Intelligence, Custom and Excise Hyderabad, on Saturday-Sunday night seized 10 kg of superior quality of heroin and arrested two Afghan nationals in a surprise raid at a hotel within the jurisdiction of city police station.
According to reports, Deputy Superintendent Mir Jaffar Hussain led a team of Custom officials following an information that superior quality of heroin was being smuggled from Afghanistan to Karachi enroute Peshawar. The information was passed on to the Hyderabad-based Custom officials by Director General Iqbal Malik.
Custom department tipped Deputy Superintendent that two Afghan nationals were seen carrying a wooden box to a hotel on station road raided the hotel. The smugglers offered resistance but were overpowered and seized 10 kg heroin costing Rs 10 million in international market.
