German grains market firm

LONDON: German grain prices firmed this week, helped by exports, traders said on Friday.

Milling wheat was particularly hard to get, they said.

Hamburg's grain exchange raised the delivered weekly bread wheat price (220 Hagberg, 12 percent protein) to 262.50 marks a tonne, from 260.00 marks a week ago, with feed wheat unchanged at 250.00.

Fob "A" quality wheat (13 percent) was quoted at 277.50 marks fob Baltic for the smallest 3,000 tonne vessels, up from 275.00 a week earlier.

The market had managed to maintain a positive tone since the start of the year, after Algeria bought around 100,000 tonnes of German wheat.

The European Union sold 100,295 tonnes of German intervention barley and 166,575 tonnes of German intervention wheat for export at its weekly tender on Thursday.-Reuters
