FCCI chalks out plan to control industrial pollution

FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) has proposed a comprehensive programme to save Faisalabad from the hazardous impacts of industrial pollution, said FCCI chief Sheikh Mohammad Khalid Habib.

After attending a meeting with Abdul Mateen Khan representative of the Unido here on Thursday the FCCI chief said that the FCCI is already making sincere efforts to control industrial pollution while the local industrialists and manufacturers would also welcome any programme for the installation of water and air treatment plants in the city.

He also assured that FCCI would lent full support for the implementation of this programme.

Abdul Mateen Khan said that a programme would be chalked out to dispose of industrial waste, reduce industrial pollutants and minimise the impacts of industrial emission under a phased programme.

He said that it had been agreed that the FCCI would undertake this project in collaboration with Unido. The Unido representative also said that initially a comprehensive research report on industrial pollution will be prepared while he has discussed a joint strategy for the preparation of this report during his recent visit here.
