Army monitoring teams start raiding police stations

LAHORE: Army monitoring teams have started raiding the police stations in the provincial capital to keep a check on the performance of the staff and issuing show-cause notices to them.

The army high-ups had received complaints about the negligence of the SHOs and other staff of police stations regarding redressal of the public grievances. Soon after assuming the power, the military regime had constituted monitoring teams and set up various complaint cells to evaluate working and performance of public departments including the Police.

The head of the monitoring team on police had directed the police officials to ensure their presence in the police station and deal with the complainants with more patience.

But reportedly they set aside these instructions. The army high-ups taking serious note of this situation, have stated paying surprise visits to the police stations. The army team on Wednesday raided Wahdat Colony police station and found the SHO and the duty officer absent from duty.

The monitoring team issued show-cause notices to the SHO and the duty officer with a warning of strict action in case of negligence in future.
