Meeting held to review lead contents in POL products

KARACHI: Pakistan standard for motor gasoline was considered by the Petroleum Products Sectional Committee meeting held under the chairmanship of S. Naushab Sarwar, of Pakistan Hydrocarbon Development Institute of Pakistan for the reduction of the limits of lead contents in premium and high octane blended component (HOBC), a Pakistan Standard Institution press release said on Thursday.
The lead content in premium grade was reduced to 20.63 percent and in HOBC to 28.57 percent. "The reduction was made possible because of the application of improved refinery technique in the country.
The meeting noted that such action of reducing lead content in petroleum products would make Pakistan a leading Third World country opting for environment-friendly measures.
