Karachi to have below normal rains
KARACHI: The winter rainfall from January to March is likely to be slightly below normal this year, according to a Met Office forecast on all Pakistan basis.
Predicting the probable amount of winter rainfall, the Met Office said the rainfall will not be well distributed. Some parts of the country namely the NWFP, north Balochistan, upper Punjab and Kashmir are likely to receive normal rainfall whereas rest of Balochistan, Sindh and remaining areas of Punjab may receive slightly below normal rainfall.
Met Office said on the basis of prevailing atmospheric conditions, La-Nina conditions and global weather prior to the winter period, and attempt is made to predict qualitative probable amount of rainfall. Such prediction aims to satisfy the statistical test for 80 percent success (to be correct four time out of five on the average).ÑAPP
