KARACHI: Monthly market quotations of hides and skins for the month of December 1999, received on January 18, 2000, were on the higher side.

However, the prices indicated as under were average and can vary to the extent of 20 percent more of less, depicting on the mark and standard of tanneries for size, grade, selection and range. The mark/standard of various tanneries differ according to their tonnage and selection standards

Wet salted goat skins, extralarge size II was unchanged at Rs 130 and III at Rs 90. Large III rose by Rs 5 to 75. Medium III was up by Rs 5 to Rs 45 and small I was quoted at Rs 112 but II rose by Rs 10 to Rs 70.

W.S. sheep skins extra large I rose by Rs 15 to Rs 235 and II was up by Rs 5 to Rs 165. Large I was quoted at Rs 190 and II was up by Rs 5 to Rs 130. Medium was quoted at Rs 130 and II was up by Rs 5 to Rs 80. Small I was up by Rs 10 to Rs 50 and II was up by same amount to Rs 30.

Buffalo hides: Extra large I was up by Rs 100 to Rs 1300, II up by same amount to Rs 1100, large I up by Rs 100 to Rs 1100 and II up by same to Rs 950. Medium was up by Rs 25 to Rs 550 and II up by same amount to Rs 300.

Cow hides: Extra large I was up by Rs 100 to Rs 1950 and II up by same amount to Rs 1750. Large I was up by Rs 100 to Rs 1050, and II up by same amount to Rs 900. Small I was up by Rs 25 to Rs 450 and II up by same amount to Rs 275.
