Govt working on
promotion of IT,
education: Moin
KARACHI: Federal Minister for Interior, Narcotics Control and Capital Development Administration Division, Lt Gen Moinuddin Haider (Retd) has said that government is working for promotion of education and information technology in the country. He was talking to various delegations which met him at State Guest House here on Wednesday.
Delegation of Memon Federation headed by Haji Hanif Tayab, Karachi Gymkhana team, Baqai Foundation team headed by Dr F U Baqai, Business Community team, headed by S M Munir and Pakistan Social Workers Organisation also met the minister.
Moin said government and he himself will provide full support for those who are working for development of education as well as for social sector. He appreciated the efforts of Haji Hanif Tayab and his team for establishment of Sir Adamji Institute of Computer Science in Karachi which will start functioning in February 2000.
He further said his ministry is working for police reform and in this connection a plan of action will be submitted to cabinet within next three months. He said coordination between the police and people is essential for which government is working.
He said a people's awareness programme will be launched soon through media which will be helpful in combating the terrorism in the country. He urged the people that they should cooperate with the government, police and local administration root out terrorism from the country.
People should inform the police if they find any doubtful thing and item at any place. He said government is considering to introduce fax and telephone system in police station for receiving the messages from public if they are not interested to contact the police.
Later Karachi Gymkhana team presented a cheque of Rs 0.65 million as donation for Fatimid Foundations to Moin Haider. The minister also donated his one month salary to the Fatimid Foundation.
Earlier, H E Sheikh Abdul Rehman Bin Jassim of Thani of Qatar called on the minister and discussed matter of mutual interest and welfare of Muslim Ummah. He also discussed the occupied Kashmir issue and said it must be solved as this is very important for peace of region.ÑPR
