shifted to
Islamabad
RECORDER REPORT
MULTAN: A former member of National Assembly Rana Mumtaz Noon, who had courted arrest on Thursday, was shifted to Islamabad on Friday to be given in the custody of National Accountability Bureau (NAB). He was held on the charge of extorting lakhs of rupees from job-seekers to provide them employment.
Federal Investigation Agency, Multan has completed inquiry against him and submitted its report a week ago confirming the charges of corruption, extortion and bribe in.
A joint teams of army and police had raided Noon's residence in Kehror Pacca on Monday but the managed to sneak away just before the raid. He also tried to compensate the complainant but this deal could not materialise. At last, he decided to appear before the police voluntarily.
Before this, he had supplied sufficient proofs to army officers to show his innocence. He further said that he had already faced a number of inquiries in the past under these charges and inquiry team had declared him innocent.
FIA is also investigatings a case against a former federal minister Tasneem Nawaz Gardezi, on the charge of getting bribe from pharmaceutical companies for increasing the prices of drugs and getting allotted state land in favour of his relatives in Cholistan.
