Lahore traders demand 2-way traffic on Maclagon Road
LAHORE: Several hundred traders and jewellers on Saturday demanded of the Punjab government for restoration of 2-way traffic on Maclagon Road to Nabbha Road immediately to help ease flow of vehicular traffic on The Mall.
Traders leader and former secretary general Jewellers and Jems Association, Sheikh Khadim Hussain in a press statement here said that all over the world efforts are made to reduce the volume of traffic on main artery and instead traffic is diverted to adjoining roads, side and link roads to fully ensure smooth flow of traffic.
He said that on the other hand, as a result of wrong decision and with the introduction of one-way traffic on Maclagon Road, the volume of traffic has increased manifold on The Mall which is creating problems for business community as well as general public.
He said that now the entire traffic moves to The Mall through Maclagon Road instead of straight away from A.G. Office to GPO Chowk.
Sheikh Khadim Hussain demanded the Provincial Monitoring and Co-Ordination Cell to help sort out the issue in line with the universally accepted traffic rules. APP
