Indian troops fire rocket on funeral near LoC: 3 hurt

MUZAFFARABAD: Two AJK civilians were wounded and a jeep destroyed as Indian troops fired rocket on the funeral procession in Sahrigoi frontier village of Tetapani sector of southern district Kotli on Friday evening, the last day of 1999, officials said on Saturday.

They said trigger-happy Indian troops on Friday fired a rocket on the funeral procession of a villager Khalil in Sahrigoi village of Tetapani sector of southern district Kotli.

Panic and harassment gripped the villages bordering the Line of Control.

The burial was delayed till dusk owing to Indian targeting, officials added. The injured were admitted in DHQ Kotli.

Another AJK civilian fell prey to Indian firing on Saturday in Balakot village of Nakial sector of southern district Kotli, the first day of year 2000.

Officials said the Indian troops in occupied Kashmir continued unprovoked firing on the civilian population in Nakial sector on Saturday.

One civilian identified as Sain Mohammad son of Attah Mohammad was wounded when an Indian bullet hit him in the right leg, official said. He was admitted in THQ Nakial.
