Meraj Din summoned in power theft case
LAHORE: Senior Special Magistrate Wapda on Tuesday summoned Mian Meraj Din, former Punjab minister for excise and taxation and owner of Crown Cinema, for January 28 in a power theft case.
The criminal case was filed by Malik Riffat, a Wapda SDO, at the court of Senior Special Magistrate Wapda submitting that Mian Meraj Din was found involved in power theft case when a Wapda team raided Crown Cinema, owned by former provincial minister Mian Meraj Din in November 1998, and disconnected the power supply and removed electricity meter from the cinema.
The applicant alleged that Mian Meraj Din then used his ministerial and political influence and got quashed the case registered against him.
Wapda authorities also requested the court to summon the accused and act in accordance with the law. Javed Aslam Qureshi, advocate, appreared as the counsel for Wapda.ÑAPP
