KASB chief's plan to set up 10 computer institutes

KARACHI: Arif Ali Shah Bukhari, a well known investment banker and Executive Director, Khadim Ali Shah Bukhari Company has come out with an ambitious plan of setting up 10 most modern IT institutes throughout the country.

The first of the ten institutes has been established in Karachi which is to start functioning from Ferburary 21.

In an anterview on Tuesday, Arif who also runs the Khadim Ali Shah Bukhari Foundation, which is involved in social welfare activities with special emphasis on promotion of education in the country, said the idea behind the establishment of these institutes is to contribute to the overall efforts being made at the national level for augmenting the cause of information technology in Pakistan.

These institutes, he said, would impart education in the field of computer sciences and information technology at graduate and post-graduate levels.

The important features of these courses will be concentration towards new millennium technologies and technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, software engineering and intelligent machines, he added.

He said the degrees awarded at these institutes would cost the students a price 10 times less than what is charged in advanced foreign countries. Arif said that a team of highly qualified and experienced Ph D. and MS. IT people from abroad have been gathered to run these institutes which would be equipped with most modern and sophisticated facilities. He said his vision is aimed at producing highly qualified professionals with positive attitude, progressive approach and leadership qualities in their respective fields so as to meet the growing future challenges in the field of IT in Pakistan.
