AG seeks time for reply

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Law Minister, Aziz A Munshi, who is also the Attorney General, has requested the Supreme Court for another week to formulate his replies to the petitions questioning the Provisional Constitution Order.

The case is to be heard by a larger bench yet to be constituted but the attorney general was required by the Chief Justice to file his replies to the petitions by Jan 17.

In a new application, Aziz A Munshi has requested for more time to finalise the answer of the federal government to the points made in five petitions. His deputies say they would be able to finalise and submit their replies in five sets by Monday next.

Fazal Ellahi Siddiqui, a former deputy inspector general of police and now an advocate of the Supreme Court, filed yet another challenge to the PCO. His petition will be clubbed with others when the regular hearing starts from January 31.
