LHC disposes of petition against law officers' appointment
RECORDER REPORT
LAHORE: Mr Justice Ch. Ijaz Ahmed of the Lahore High Court disposed of a petition filed against the appointment of the law officers allegedly appointed by the previous government on political basis as almost all the said officers had already been terminated from their offices.
Petitioner Advocate M D Tahir contended that the previous government had appointed a number of law officers in the Punjab on the political basis only to oblige its favourites.
He said the action of the respondent government was illegal and violative of constitutional provisions.
The action of the respondent government was also an interference in the judiciary, he said and added that instead of taking the judiciary and the bar into confidence, it appointed all the law officers who were their supporters.
Tahir, therefore, prayed to the court to declare the action of the respondent government as illegal, unconstitutional and without lawful authority.
The court after hearing the petitioner at length disposed of the petition as it became infructuous after the dismissal of the respondent government.
