Health survey conducted in DG Khan
LAHORE: A team of the Communicable Diseases Control (CDC) has completed a comprehensive survey of DG Khan division to examine reported incident of spreading epidemic of Hepatitis B and C in certain areas of the division.
The DG Health, Punjab, Dr Khursheed Khan and Director CDC Dr Jameel told APP here on Monday that the department took prompt action on a reported news item about spreading of liver-related disease, and conducted thorough survey to testify the facts.
They said CDC team visited tehsil, district and divisional headquarters hospitals and examined the number of patients feared suffering from Hepatitis B and C.
Health officials categorically denied that any epidemic had spread in the area and added not a single case of above mentioned disease were found either from D.G. Khan or Rajanpur hospitals.
They said total population of D.G. Khan division stands at about 2 million, of which only eight or nine chronic cases of Hepatitis B and C had been detected which were pending in hospitals since long.
The team further pointed out that Hepatitis A, which is not as harmful as B or C, normally spreads during summer and cures itself with the passage of time and without any medication.ÑAPP
