FAISALABAD: All Pakistan Anjuman Tajran Faisalabad Region (APAT), has expressed grave concern over the imposition of General Sales Tax (GST) at retail stage and announced that small traders can not under go this complicated Sales Tax regime.

Talking to newsmen, APAT general secretary, Sheikh Bashir Ahmad said that the imposition of GST would not yield to the government but will instead add to the element of the corruption. He suggested that if the government was compelled to impose GST, then it was advisable to levy the GST at one stage only at source and there should be no concept of refund system.

Sheikh Bashir Ahmad said that the big industrialists were trying to involve small traders in the sales tax complications but the traders` front would thwart this conspiracy. He said that small traders did not have resource or net work to collect sales tax on retail stage and deposit the same in government treasury latter on.
