Govt urged
to withdraw
3 percent ST
on supplies
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: Mohammed Jehangir , chairman, Pakistan Chemicals and Dyes Merchants Association (PCDMA), has urged the government to withdraw three percent sales tax charged on supplies made to non-registered buyers.
He contended that this levy was fully borne by importers as the whole of our economy was not fully documented. Hence the burden of three percent fell on the shoulders of importers which was quite unfair and unrealistic.
He said this tax also led many malpractices in the market, which was detrimental to the business community as a whole.
