Govt deplores
Beg's statement
on hijacking case
ISLAMABAD: The government spokesman on Sunday said that the plane hijacking case is under trial in a court of law and the prosecution has presented sufficient proof besides a large number of witnesses have recorded their statements in support of the prosecution.
The spokesman was commenting on a statement of Gen Aslam Beg (Retd) in which Beg allegedly said that plane hijacking case has no substance.
The spokesman said: "Commenting on an under trial case, by an eminent political leader is deplorable."
"It is not the question of personal whim or interest, the lives of over 200 passengers were endangered by not allowing the plane to land at Karachi. It is the duty of the government to take cognizance of such an offence and proceed according to the law," the spokesman added.
The spokesman said it was, therefore, untrue to presume that the case has no substance. The charges, in fact, was substantiated with sufficient proof and evidences.ÑAPP
