Breach plugged
RECORDER REPORT
FAISALABAD: The irrigation authorities have successfully plugged a breach in Burala Branch Canal, claimed Superintending Engineer Zia Ullah Warriach here on Sunday.
He said that a small breach of a few feet was reported on the left side of the Burala Branch Canal near Summundri. It gradually widened up to the 80 feet, flooding the adjoining fields. However, irrigation officials rushed to the spot and has plugged it after hectic efforts of 48 hours.
Replying to a question, Zia said that no loss of life or property has been reported from the affected area. However, after the receding of water, field to field survey will be carried out for the exact estimation of the damage caused to the standing crops, he added and said that this job will be completed within next three to four days.
The irrigation authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of breach.
