MoH to launch

operation

against illegal

occupants

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Housing has decided to launch an operation against the illegal and unauthorised occupants of the government accommodations in order to allot these houses to entitled government employees.

Officials sources told APP here on Saturday that those government employees who have legally acquired government accommodations but are using it by any third person will also be vacated.

The sources said that most of the suspended MNAs and Senators have also being asked to deposit huge amounts pending against them for the last many years on account of house rent and utility bills.

The ex-parliamentarians had occupied a dozen of family suites in the Gulshan-e-Jinnah (F-5/1) and other federal lodges in violation of rules and had deprived deserving government employees of their allotments.

The sources said that some suspended legislators of the former ruling party had illegally allotted family suites in Gulshan-e-Jinnah by using political pressure in the name of some officers but were being used by the guests, visitors, drivers and personal employees of them.

The sources said after the change of the government ministry of housing issued notices to the political persons to vacate the suites and houses but some of them have not vacated these accommodations and are applying pressure on ministry, PWD and Estate Office.

Sources pointed out that some parliamentarians of the former ruling party were involved in unlawful activities and cases were registered against them.

The ministry has decided that no one would be allowed to use government accommodation in the name of government employees on permanent basis particularly in Gulshan-e-Jinnah.

Another source said that some officers have obtained family suites in F-5/1 and in the lodges in addition to availing the hiring facility of the government.

A proposal is being considered to obtain affidavit from the government employees who have been allotted accommodation in Gulshan-e-Jinnah and in lodges that they are not enjoying the double accommodation facility of the government.

Estate Office has also been asked to detect those government houses which were illegally occupied.

The sources said that the operation would be conducted with the help of local administration.ÑAPP
