India continues vain attempts to malign Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: As part of a vain attempt to malign Pakistan, India continues to make allegations which are unfounded and not supported by even a shred of credible evidence.

This was stated by a Foreign Office spokesman in a statement issued on Saturday evening.

The Indian purpose, he said, is to "deflect" domestic criticism of the Government's "mishandling of the hijacking incident."

"The international community has already asked India to desist from provocations against Pakistan in the interest of peace and stability in the region," the spokesman said.

Pakistan, he said, is opposed to all forms of terrorism including hijacking "which it has condemned unreservedly."

He said Pakistan has once again rejected Indian accusations of Pakistan's involvement in the hijacking of the Indian airlines plane.

The Pakistan high commissioner in New Delhi, he said, was on Saturday handed over a demarche containing the Indian accusations of Pakistan's support to acts of terrorism particularly the hijacking of the plane.

The high commissioner rejected these allegations forthwith.

"The Indian demarche had repeated the now familiar baseless allegations which have been already dismissed by Pakistan and the international community," the spokesman added. APP
