Banks asked to give exporters' names not bringing in forex
RECORDER REPORT
ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau has asked various banks to provide it with lists of exporters who are not bringing in foreign exchange earned by them.
The banks have been asked to compile the information on top priority basis on the format provided by the NAB.
In a communication to banks all over the country, the NAB has said that quite a substantial amount of foreign exchange had been lost or was stuck up abroad owing to non-realisation of export proceeds.
The letter said: "Even though NAB has the list of such companies, individuals and business houses who have exported goods to different countries but had not brought the foreign exchange home. In order to ensure authenticity, it is requested to furnish the information about such exporters as soon as possible."
The NAB has asked the banks to provide names of directors and partners, NIC numbers, addresses, telephone numbers of offices, residents and mobile and amount of export proceeds un-realised.
The information is to be provided within seven days.
