KARACHI: Sindh Governor Air Marshal Azim Daudpota (Retd) has thanked the Korean investors and particularly KIA Motors for their investment in Sindh and cooperation in the industrial field and said this would prove to be a milestone towards industrial progress in Sindh and the country as a whole and transfer of technology.
He was talking to a group of KIA Motors and other investors from Korea which called on him alongwith Provincial Industries Minister Dewan Yusuf Farooqui, at the Governor House on Friday.
The delegation apprised the Governor about investment by KIA Motors and the establishment of a modern automobile plant in Sindh in cooperation with Dewan Motors and KIA Motors.
They said that under agreement between the two, a lot of progress will be achieved in the transfer of technology. The Governor said that Korean policy in this regard is quite liberal.
Dewan Yusuf pointed out that city of Karachi needs minimum 5,000 buses for which steps are being taken.
However, he made it clear, that for his being in the Sindh Cabinet, his company would remain away from this process officially and would not take part in the competition.
He informed that Robot working is being introduced in Dewan Motors for the first time in the country from June this year which would bring considerable operational savings.
He said that efforts are also being made for promoting the vending industry for the vehicles produced in Pakistan and for this purpose work is on in cooperation with the Korean investors.
The governor paid tributes to Dewan Yusuf and his family for their social and welfare services for the country and said that while he is a minister, he is making all expenditures from his personal pocket.ÑAPP
