Cases against Zardari, others adjourned till 24
KARACHI: Mohammad Afzal Khan, Senior Special Judge of Federal Anti-Corruption Court (FAC), Central II, on Friday adjourned hearing of artifacts smuggling case commonly known as container case againnst Senator Asif Ali Zardari, Wajid Shamsul Hasan, former High Commissioner of Pakistan to United Kingdom and other co-accused till January 21, 2000.
Accused Senator Asif Ali Zardari was produced before the senior special judge amid strict security arrngements.
The adjournment came as Sindh High Court has stayed proceedings in the matter on a revision application filed by accused Senator Zardari. Farooq H Naek advocate appeared for the accused while none was present from prosecution side.
Zardari has challenged calling of a prosecution witness by the court. The prosecution earlier dropped the said witness.
The case pertains to alleged smuggling of eight huge wooden boxes, transhipped from Bilawal House Karachi to Surrey Palace, allegedly owned by the former ruling couple, Senator Zardari and Ms. Benazipr Bhutto.
According to the prosecution, consignment contained antiques worth millions of rupees. APP
