Abad suggests
regularisation
of all illegal
construction
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: The builders and developers have proposed to the Sindh government to regularize illegal construction after imposing penalties and other charges on companies guilty of committing irregularities.
In a statement issued to the press on Friday, Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD), Chairman M. M. I. Hussain said in view of inconsistent in government policies and obsolete building bye-laws, a general amnesty be announced for the regularisation of all illegal buildings.
He said once an across the board policy of equal treatment for grant of completion certificate is adopted, incidents of irregular construction would come to an end.
Hussain has proposed March 30, 2000, a deadline for regularisation of illegal construction.
He said he had met the secretary housing and town planning and explained the advantages of this proposal.
Hussain criticised the role of an NGO for its negative attitude towards the Abad members.
