Body to probe murder

SUKKUR: Sukkur Deputy Commissioner, Kalimullah Lashari, has constituted a three-member team comprising Sukkur SDM Khawaja Mohiuddin Wani, Major Arshad of Monitoring Cell and Sukkur ASP Rao Karim, to hold inquiry into the killing of a citizen of Rohri, Abdul Ghani Soomro by a three-member dacoits gang on Tuesday.

The committee has been directed to submit its report within 36 hours, official sources told APP on Thursday.ÑAPP

Revenue stamps shortage

RAWALPINDI: Acute shortage of revenue stamps of general post office (GPO) was creating problems for the public in the annual renewal of their driving and armed licenses.

The people had to stand in long queues in front of license renewing counters of the local post office to get revenue stamps but they were much disappointed when dealing clerk made an excuse about the availability of the tickets.

When contacted one of the GPO official said that the tickets have not so far been printed and as soon as these were prepared these would be provided to the public.ÑAPP

DERA GHAZI KHAN: DG Khan District Bar Association elections will be held on January 15. According to reports candidates contesting the bar polls for president include Malik Mohammad Iqbal Saqib and Zafar Ahmed Loond for vice president, Rasool Bakhsh and Hashim Sana; for secretary, Mohammad Umar, Farooq Khosa and Shahid Masood Qaisrani; for joint secretary, Sh Fida Hussain and Mohammad Sarfaraz.ÑAPP

Open kutchery

LAHORE: Lesco superintending engineer, 1st Lahore electricity circle, Abdul Hameed Nadeem will hold an open kutchery on 15 at 10 a.m. in the office of SDO Jia Musa sub-division. The SE will issue on the spot instructions for quick redressal of consumer complaints.ÑAPP

MC cashier held

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Anti Corruption police, DG Khan have recovered Rs 0.3 million out of the millions allegedly misappropriated by Rahim Bakhsh, cashier municipal committee, with the connivance of other officials. The cashier is presently under arrest. The police have also decided to interrogate the former and present audit officers, the former chief officer MC, and accountant Mohammad Salim. Investigation is in progress.ÑAPP

Power shutdown

HYDERABAD: The spokesperson of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) announced on Thursday closure of power supply for some four hours to parts of Hala, Saeedabad, Larkana, Qambar, Shahdadkot, Garhi Khero, Ousta Muhammed and Warah Shah on Friday. The closure is stated to carry out necessary repair and maintenance work at different grid stations. The power supply would remain suspended at 132 kv Hala and all 11 feeders of 132 kv Saeedabad from 8 a.m. to 12 noon tomorrow (Jan. 14). While there would be no electricity via 132 kv Larkana, 66 kv Qambar, Shahdadkot Garhi Khero, Ousta Muhammed and Warah Shah from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. the same day.ÑAPP
