JUI opposed to linking CTBT signing with India
RECORDER REPORT
LAHORE: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Qadri) has said that it is not in favour of linking Pakistan's signing of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) with India.
However, he said that the government should ascertain public opinion before signing this treaty.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday the JUI Chief, Maulana Mohammad Ajmal Qadri, observed that linking signing of CTBT with India would deprive us of support from the international community.
He said that the remarks by Foreign Minister Abdus Sattar on this issue against Jamaat Ameer Qazi Hussein Ahmed were 'un-parliamentary'.
He said that the foreign minister should apologise for these remarks.
The JUI Chief appreciated the performance of the military government till now.
He said an over-all improvement would occur only if the administrative machinery improved and admitted that the military regime had achieved success in this regard.
