Japanese aid for Afghan NGOs

Islamabad: Japan will provide financial support to three non-governmental organisations (NGOs) of Afghanistan amounting to US $111,377 for improvement of wells and installation of hand pumps, construction of water supply system in rural areas and reconstruction of primary schools for boys and girls.

The Ambassador of Japan, Minoru Kubota, will sign the agreements with the representatives of these NGOs in Islamabad on Friday.

This is the second relief and humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan through Grass-Roots Assistance (GRA).

Since 1979 more than 400 million US dollars equivalent contribution has been made to Afghanistan through United Nations and other international organisations. The GRA scheme for Afghanistan was launched last year.
