British Council

introduces

educational visits

from next week

KARACHI: The British Council will be introducing next week, its scheme for short-term educational visits to UK for the year 2000-2001.

This British Council/Charles Wallace Trust Visiting Fellowship Programme was first introduced in 1999 and 14 candidates were selected from all over Pakistan.

The Acting Director of British Council Karachi, Ms Samina R Khan, said here on Wednesday that some 24 to 30 candidates are expected to be selected for the current year programme, designed to assist individuals desirous to broaden their experience or improve their skills through a short-term attachment at any UK-based university or training institution.

The programme offers courses in literature, designing, English language teaching, education, management and administration.

She said applications for attendance at summer schools which were organised by a recognised British University or school of art would be considered.

It was stated that the applicants must be able to demonstrate that apart from the grant, all other arrangements for their attachment or training have been met. They will be asked to show evidence of confirmed offer of an attachment or training.

The candidates must be Pakistani nationals, resident in Pakistan and should be of 25 to 45 years of age and must have a firm offer of up to three months from a UK university or training institution.

The applications should reach the respective British Council offices by March 24. Only the shortlisted candidates will be interviewed.ÑAPP
