GST on gas bills levied by former govt

ISLAMABAD: General Sales Tax was levied on gas bills on August 16 last by the previous government, a spokesman of the ministry of petroleum and natural resources said here on Friday.

Referring to a news item appearing in a section of press regarding levy of 15% GST on gas bills, the official spokesman of the ministry clarified "GST was actually imposed on gas bills as far back as August 16, 1999 by the previous government".

There is no imposition of any tax on the consumers by the present government, he said. APP
